This weeks meeting is on Light painting and light trails. We will meet on the Thurs 23rd in The Arts Tower lecture theater 6 at 7:15pm. Meetings from now on will be free for members (remember to bring your membership keyring along!) and non-members will have to pay £2 on the door. However you can buy membership at the meeting (or on the door) so don’t worry. It is important to bring warm clothes (gloves may be helpful), a tripod and a camera (but don’t worry, you can always borrow a tripod/camera from us (contact us beforehand or book it on the website) or someone is usually willing to share theirs, or you can just come along to watch or be the light painter (even more fun than the taking of the photo!). There are also flat dry surfaces in the park that you can use as a support if you don’t have a tripod) Light painting is really fun and you can take stunning photos like this or simple but creative ones like this or this or this. Light Trails are usually of moving vehicles, such as this.
Our Christmas market trip is to the wonderful city of York! It is on Sunday the 30th of November. We will be getting the 10:21am train (arriving at 11:27am) wandering around the St Nicolas Christmas market (There is also the Barley medieval market with a £2 entry), around York, have lunch and dinner there (also a chance for some night photography) and then get the 8:24pm train back to Sheffield, but you can book your return when you want, if you would like to leave early. The return train ticket coat around £12.95 with a railcard. But best to get your tickets asap. Here is the Facebook event page so please say if you are attending.
Regarding hoodies, there will be a Word doc posted on the Facebook group tomorrow, which you will have to print, fill out and return to a meeting with the money before the 6th of November (and hopefully they will arrive before the Christmas holidays!). They cost £23.50, are black and include white embroidered ‘University of Sheffield Photographic society’ on the back and an embroidered logo and your name in yellow on the front left breast.
All the best Photocats, see you soon,
