[PhotoSoc] Jobs Update

Dear Fellow PhotoSoc Members,

Hi!  Old and new members of Photosoc!  Here we have a few jobs available for you guys to apply.  Please read and follow the application instructions carefully so that we can access your applications:)

First of all, we have a few voluntary job:

1. The Sheffield Japan Day 2014

Japan Day is a charity event at the university that aims to showcase Japanese culture, whilst raising money for support and therapy for children orphaned in the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster.

As part of the event, they’re planning on providing guests with the opportunity to have their photographs taken in a kimono.  So they will need a photographer to take photos at the kimono corner. (Portraiture)

It would be a voluntary position but would make an excellent addition to a portfolio and would also be a great opportunity to gain more experience in photographing events professionally.  Volunteers would get free entry to the event.

The event will be taking place on Sunday 16th March, from 11:30 to 17:00.

2. Sheffield Friends Music and Food Festival

Sheffield Friends of MSF, a charity supporting the international humanitarian organisation Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF), are hosting a music and food event at Harland Cafe near London Road in the evening of the 27th March.

They are looking for a  photographer

3. The Great Gatsby Cocktail Party

A final year Events Management student at Sheffield Hallam University is currently working within a team called Sterling Events Sheffield.  They are working closely with local charity Cavendish Cancer Care in order to create an exciting Great Gatsby themed event of which all proceeds will go to the charity (information on the charity can be found below).

The event is titled ‘The Great Gatsby Cocktail Party’ and will be held on the Friday 7thMarch at the popular and stylish Fitzwilliam & West (located in the West One Plaza).  The event will feature a DJ playing swing music and swing dancers will be performing.

They are currently seeking photographers to document the event.  Besides helping such a great cause, working at a charity event such as this will look great on CV’s, the photographers taken will boost portfolio’s and the organiser would be happy to act as references after the event had taken place.

The pay is to be discussed.

4. Private Bday Party

The host is organising a family event to celebrate a 21st Birthday.  They are looking for a photographer to take group photographs of family members to start then photographs throughout the evening.

Date: Saturday April 5th

Time: 4.30-9pm

5. Biomedical Science Society Summer Ball

Biomed Sci Soc is having their Summer Ball on 3rd May, 2014 and would like to have a photographer to take photos for them.
This job is a paid job and the rate is subjected to negotiation.

6. British Dental Students Association Conference 2014 Ball

The BDSA will be holding a ball on Saturday 15th March at Magna, the Science Adventure Centre for 460 people.  This year the University of Sheffield has been fortunate enough to win the bid to host the National BDSA Conference in March 2014.  The event will be starting at 6:30 and an anticipated end time of 2:30 however the end time for the photographer can be negotiated.  The event is an annual national event and will be attended from well know sponsors.

They are looking for a photographer to take portrait photos using a backdrop.  As the event is catering for a large number of people so more than 1 photographer could be considered (or an asistanant is allowed.)
