Darkroom training sessions

Dear PhotoSoc members,

This week, we will be starting training sessions in the darkroom. The room itself is in the Engineering building on Mappin Street. We will meet anyone doing the sessions in the foyer because it’s quite a confusing building if you haven’t been in there before.

If you are interested in learning how to use the darkroom, or if you are already experienced and would just like orientating so you can use it yourself, please send us an email and let us know how much experience you have had.
We will arrange you into groups, depending on how much darkroom experience you have.

Group 1 – No darkroom experience.
Group 2 – Little experience in the darkroom, but need some guidance with developing and printing.
Group 3 – Confident in developing and printing, little guidance needed, just an orientation.

If you are experienced and confident in using the room and are interested in teaching others, please let us know.

For next week (w/c 30th November) the sessions will be as follows:

Wednesday 2nd Dec: 1130 – 1230 for GROUP 1
Thursday 3rd Dec: 10 – 11 for GROUP 3
Friday 4th Dec: 11 – 12 for GROUP 2

Please email us ASAP if you’d like to attend these sessions as it will be on a first come first served basis. Maximum 4 people per session.

If you don’t have a film camera, we do have an Olympus OM10 that you can borrow free of charge. Just visit the equipment booking form on the website to book it for yourself.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Beckie and Jack
Darkroom Coordinators
